911 Address Signs
To ensure that emergency services know where to find you, display a compliant 911 number at your driveway entrance.
According to the 2020 Property Maintenance Code of New York State:
Chapter 3, 304.3 Premises Identification
“Buildings shall have approved address numbers placed in a position to be plainly legible and visible from the street or road fronting the property. These numbers shall contrast with their background. Address numbers shall be Arabic numerals or alphabet letters. Numbers shall be not less than 4 inches (102 mm) in height with a minimum stroke width of 0.5 inch (12.7 mm).”
Most properties already have address signs posted at the appropriate locations. However, to obtain a new 911 adress, call Delaware County Department of Emergency Services: (607) 832-5600. Call your local fire department to request installation.
